Aims

Overall, the project has 5 main aims:

1. To increase the level of knowledge and interest of pupils (and teachers) in astronomy, particularly comets and galaxies.

2. To use astronomy as a vehicle for helping teach other core elements of the curriculum: maths, science, geography, teamwork and communication.

3. To encourage pupils to think scientifically – plan, implement, test, review, adapt – and to analyse and draw conclusions.

4. To raise aspirations by getting pupils involved in real research with research scientists, supported by amateur astronomers.

5. To reinforce the idea that science, and problem solving, is interesting and fun.
